It is a privilege to welcome visitors to Stellenbosch and share the beauty of the Cape Winelands on a private Stellenbosch wine tour. This historic town, beloved by travelers worldwide, offers a rich blend of culture, heritage, and world‑class wines. These custom Cape Winelands tours are the best way to explore and discover!

Last week, I hosted a young couple from the UK enjoying a South African adventure before starting university. After exploring Cape Town’s Waterfront, they spent a few days in Stellenbosch before driving the Garden Route and ending at Addo Elephant Park for a bucket‑list safari. They were keen to explore some Stellenbosch hidden gems with a local tour guide.

Jordan Wine Estate, Stellenbosch Kloof Road

Our tour began at Jordan Wine Estate, nestled along the Stellenbosch Kloof Road. Although mist covered the valley and hid the famous views, the wines more than made up for it. The guests enjoyed a cellar tour and tastings, including the celebrated Barrel Fermented Chardonnay (perfectly timed with International Chardonnay Day).

Stark‑Condé Wines, Jonkershoek Valley

Next, we visited Stark‑Condé Estate in the Jonkershoek Valley. With clear skies and breathtaking scenery, one guest declared it “the most beautiful place I have ever been in my whole life.” Crossing the bridge to their island tasting room, we indulged in a wine and chocolate food pairing surrounded by mountain views.

Rainbow’s End, Banghoek Valley

After a quick sourdough pizza lunch at Motherdough in Jonkershoek, we crossed over the Helshoogte Pass to Rainbow’s End Estate. Mist lingered, but this didn’t deter my British guests who embraced the atmosphere. On the deck, we sampled their renowned Cabernet Francs. By the end of the day they discovered a new love for warm‑climate Chenins and cool‑climate Syrahs so they new exactly which wine to ask for at a restaurant for the rest of their trip.

Despite the mist, the day was filled with laughter, hospitality, and unforgettable wine experiences. Stellenbosch offers endless opportunities for discovery, from cellar tours and tastings to breathtaking landscapes and local cuisine.
